HAJIME SAKITA (
Musical saw, Guitar, Composer, MC )
HAJIME
SAKITA was born in 1971, in Osaka, Japan. In
1991, SAKITA was most impressed with performance
of MIYAKOYA UTAROKU, the leading saw player
in Japan. He discovered fluctuation in his mind
between humorousness of the player's style and
melancholiness of the sound, which is exclusive
to saw music. Soon SAKITA began to learn to
play a musical saw by himself and took up a
post as the leader of the Japan Musical Saw
Association Kansai branch. In 1997, SAKITA won
first place at Santa Cruz's Musical Saw Festival
and played in foreign countries such as Czech
Republic and South Korea.
SAKITA is also a guitar and musical saw player
of an acoustic duo, "HAJIME NI KIYOSHI",
and has released four CDs. The original "comfortable
HANAUTA (humming) scenery music" of this
duo attracts a wide range of fans. HAJIME NI
KIYOSHI produces many TV and commercial music
and appear in big music festivals such as FUJI
ROCK FESTIVAL, as well as plays concerts at
unique venues including a public bathhouse,
a church, and a MACHIYA. The music of "BOKUNCHI",
a movie directed by Junji Sakamoto in 2003,
is also their work.
In 2004, SAKITA got the second victory at Santa
Cruz's Musical Saw Festival. In November 2004,
SAKITA held the first musical saw festival in
Japan and achieved great success.
In 2005, SAKITA was received Sakuya Konohana
Award from the City of Osaka.
Now working on the recording of his first solo
CD album.
